Q. How do I get the code for putting the Preparing For Sunday link on my website?
A. Login into your account using your email address and password. Once logged in, click the “Build Your Link” button. Copy the code snippet provided and give it to your webmaster to paste it on your website where you would like the link to appear.
Q. Do I have to change my code when I renew my subscription?
A. No, your code will remain the same. However, if you use a different email address to renew, the system will think it is a new subscription and will generate a new code for your website.
Q. Can I forward the link to Preparing For Sunday in my email newsletter?
A. No. Preparing For Sunday requires a referring domain in order to work properly. This means that the link will only work when coming from your website and it’s domain.
There is a workaround, but it requires a tech savvy webmaster. Set up a page on your website with an auto re-direct that directs to the PFS link for your subscription. Link to this page in your newsletter. When a recipient clicks the link, it will take them to the page on your website and then quickly auto redirect them to your PFS link. In this way, the referring domain is preserved and the link will work properly.
Q. Why can’t I get the readings from PFS to appear on my own website rather than having to be directed to the PFS website?
A. This is a security issue. If PFS were to allow authorization to push readings to your website, it would open a host of security related problems. Because we are concerned with your security, we do not allow this functionality.
Q. The PFS link on my church’s website gives me the following error: “Error. Subscription information is not complete.”
A. When setting up your account on PFS, you may have forgotten to enter the URL of your church’s website, and to choose the denominational track you want to use. This is in addition to setting up your contact information. Please log in to www.preparingforsunday.com and click the “Update Subscription” link. Add your church website URL and choose a denomination. Click Update. Note: If you have recently updated your subscription using a different email address than you used for your original account, this will often occur.
Q. The PFS link on my church gives me the following error message: “Error. Referring domain is empty.”
A. In most cases, this means that your website URL is entered incorrectly on the PFS website under the “Update Subscription” link. Follow the instructions above to fix this.
In other cases, you may have embedded the PFS link in an iFrame on your website or in a javascript routine. Please check with your webmaster about how PFS was implemented on your website. PFS does not support iFrames or javascript embedding.
